About the Wine & Microbrew

Cathedral Catholic is San Diego’s largest private high school and the premier Catholic high school. The Wine & Microbrew Tasting and Auction began over 30 years ago, with parents meeting in a backyard to share their favorite beer and wine with fellow parents. It was an opportunity to bring the Dons community together. Through the years this event has grown, but the purpose has remained the same. Dons teams eventually got involved by coordinating the donations of raffle baskets for an auction. Thus, the Annual Wine & Microbrew Tasting and Auction came to be.

This annual event is a community favorite and the most successful fundraiser for Cathedral Catholic's athletic program. It’s an evening for the Dons community and friends to sample microbrews and award-winning wines while enjoying gourmet food options. We expect that this year’s Wine & Microbrew will sell out just as it did last year. Belly Bar - $250.00

A belly bar will be reserved with your name on the table placard. Belly bars fit 4-6 people comfortably standing around the table. Ticket to event must be purchased separately.

Picnic Table - $500.00

A picnic table will be reserved with your name on the table placard. Picnic tables fit 8 adults comfortably sitting at the benches. Ticket to event must be purchased separately.

Support the Cause

All proceeds from this year’s Wine & Microbrew will support the school’s ongoing efforts to replace all of the athletic scoreboards with digital displays. Due to the generous donations from our families and community sponsors & the proceeds from last year’s Wine & Microbrew, we have already replaced the scoreboards in the Claver Center (gymnasium), the Waitt Aquatic Center and Manchester Stadium. We’ve also secured all required permits from the City of San Diego for the remaining digital displays to be installed.

Our focus for this year’s event will be to raise the remaining $800,000 still needed to replace the scoreboards with digital display scoreboards for the following:

  • Lower Turf Field
  • Lynch & Allred Tournament Field (Baseball Field)
  • Softball Field

The upgrade of our scoreboards to digital displays has already shown a positive impact for our athletes, fans and guests when visiting the campus. From sporting events, school mass, assemblies, graduation ceremonies, diocesan staff training and more, the digital displays have enhanced the experience of all who have seen them. We are asking for your financial support of our 33rd Annual Wine & Microbrew Tasting and Auction. Help us reach our project goal of $2 million to complete the replacement of all scoreboards with the installation of the digital display scoreboards. Thank you for your support!
