Growing in Faith Through Class Retreats

Freshman Retreat was a great opportunity to get to know my fellow freshmen, along with seniors leading the retreat. My favorite parts were meeting new people, playing games on the field and attending Mass as a class.

I’ve never been on a retreat before, so this was my first time, and I had an amazing experience. I enjoyed celebrating the Mass for the very first time with my classmates. I also had an awesome time playing the games. Overall, it was a beautiful experience, and I can’t wait to experience the rest of the retreats at Cathedral.

Sophomore Retreat was an all-around great experience for me spiritually, and I was so excited to have the opportunity to grow alongside my friends and peers. I will use the things I learned at the retreat to grow as a student, friend and member of the Church.

The retreat allowed me to take a brief but necessary break from the fast-paced life of a student and gifted me an opportunity to strengthen my bond with God and my fellow classmates.

I am so happy we were able to have an in-person Junior Retreat. I wasn’t sure what to expect walking into it but had so much fun. It was great to meet new friends and further develop my faith. I am thankful for the experience of being part of Junior Retreat.

My retreat experience was amazing! I didn’t know what to expect going into it since the people that went on the prior retreat didn’t spoil anything. It was so fun to spend time and grow closer to the people I see every day and not have to worry about school or checking social media. My senior leaders were very kind and welcoming, which made group sessions easier to share in.

Taking part in the Kairos retreat was undoubtedly the highlight of my high school experience here at Cathedral Catholic. Coming back after Covid, it was nice to develop a deeper bond with my classmates and teachers. I was able to spend quality time with God, bettering myself, and I am still feeling the effects today. It is a time that I will never forget and am so thankful for.

Kairos was an amazing and unforgettable experience. On the retreat, I learned how important it is to be vulnerable in order to strengthen my faith with God and my relationships with others. I was also able to grow close to many people that I had never talked to and was greatly inspired in hearing their stories.

I realized that everyone has experienced tragedy and adversity and being able to open up to others on this retreat gave me strength and relief. The highlight of the retreat for me was the bonfire on our last night. Everyone bonded together as one that night, making s’mores and listening to music we all loved.

Kairos went far deeper than any other retreat I’ve been on. It gave me the time and place for God to approach me personally and an opportunity for us to discuss the ways God works in our lives. Overall, it made my whole small group realize we weren’t alone in the world and we’re all more similar than we thought.
