At Cathedral Catholic High School, Mass is an integral part of our faith and academic community. As a Catholic institution, we believe that participation in the Eucharist fosters spiritual growth and unity and the time we spend together in prayer, gathered as one community is an essential part of being a Don.

Therefore, attendance at all school-wide Masses is mandatory and will be considered part of the student’s overall attendance record. Absences from Mass will be treated as an absence from any other class or required school activity and may impact the student’s attendance standing.

We ask that families support this important aspect of our school’s mission and remind students of the significance of participating fully in our Catholic tradition. For any questions or concerns regarding Mass attendance, please contact the Dean of Mission and Ministry.

To show reverence for the Liturgy and unity as a student body, students are expected to wear Liturgy Dress on Mass days. This includes:

●  A CCHS red or white polo (colors will be posted on Schoology, the school newsletter and included in morning announcements the week before). Students are required to wear the correct color.

● Undershirts worn must be white and may not have any logo, design or writing of any kind.

● Pants (NO shorts) may only be black, navy blue or khaki in color and must follow the school’s general pants guidelines found above.

● Socks and shoes must meet the school’s clothing general guidelines.

● Cathedral Catholic cardigans/pullover sweaters purchased from the on-campus store are the only approved outerwear for liturgy and special events. If Mass or an event occurs during cold/rainy weather, outerwear may include rain/cold-weather jackets that may be CCHS-sponsored or plain, solid-colored warm jackets with minimal logos and no advertising or graphics. No college or CC hooded sweatshirts are permitted during the liturgy celebration.

Each sports season (fall, winter and spring), Mission and Ministry welcomes each individual sports team to the Chapel for a team Mass. Teams usually attend during a daily Mass of their choosing. Coaches will share the team Mass date/time.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is the process of coming before Christ in His entirety - His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity - to contemplate His awesomeness and to lovingly adore Him. Those in Adoration are in His Real Presence and are able to speak with Him in their minds and hearts.

How is this done? The priest takes a consecrated host and places it in a monstrance (monstrance comes from the Latin “monstrare,” which means to show, to expose or to view). The monstrance is then placed on the altar of the chapel for exposition.

What do we do at Adoration? Upon entering the chapel, reverently genuflect or bow before His Presence, for He is God. Adoration consists of time alone with Jesus, praising and giving thanks. Participants may wish to recite favorite prayers, read the bible, contemplate acts of faith, hope and charity, offer reparation for grievances against Him, pray a rosary or engage in whatever type of prayerful devotion that suits them before the Lord. Participants can also simply sit and say nothing, just savoring His Presence. Upon leaving, again reverently genuflect or bow.

Parents are welcome to attend our All-School Masses, but must RSVP and be cleared through our On-Campus Visitor system.  When arriving on campus, parents must first check-in and receive their guest badge.  The RSVP to attend an All-School Mass is posted in the Family Newsletter each week.
