Goals and Purpose of the Honor Society
Today’s chapters continue to foster the recognition, motivation and education of academically talented students. Chapter memberships promote the CSF ideal of service to their communities.
Qualifications to Apply:
- Junior or senior students; Sophomores are invited to join during the second semester.
- A's and B's in core classes
- GPA of 3.5 in core classes
- ASL class grade B or higher

Membership is for one semester, and membership drives are held at the beginning of each semester. Eligible students become members by submitting applications based on their report cards from the previous semester. The second-semester application drive will be the week of January 23-27, 2023.

Goals and Purpose of the Honor Society
The Cathedral Catholic chapter of the Société Honoraire de Français provides an opportunity to participate in activities centered around the French language and Francophone literature and cultures. We encourage participation in French academic activities such as our annual writing, poetry, media and trivia contests, as well as participation in cultural activities. In addition, students can acquire leadership skills through tutoring, serving as officers, directing the initiation ceremony and leading other chapter events.
Qualifications to Apply:
- A- or higher in at least 4 semesters of French
- B- or higher in all other courses
- Enrolled in French 3 or French AP at Cathedral Catholic
- First-year applicants must complete a minimum of two hours of French-related tutoring or community service.
- Second-year members and beyond must complete one hour of French-related tutoring or community service.
- Must attend at least 4 meetings of the Société Honoraire de Français per year
- Must attend the Société Honoraire de Français induction ceremony

Goals and Purpose of the Honor Society
International Thespian Society (ITS) is the honor society for secondary school theatre students. Membership is granted for the performance of meritorious work in theatre arts. High school thespian induction eligibility requirements and procedures are detailed in the Thespian Troupe Handbook.
Qualifications to Apply:
- Participation in theatrical activities (classes, shows, charity events, service work, teaching, etc.) as described in the ITS points guide.
Applications for the 2022-2023 School Year
Induction is rolling, and there are three membership drives a year (fall, winter and spring) following the completion of each show. Students submit a form detailing the participation points they have earned. 10 points are required for entry membership. Middle school activity may be applied. Students may apply and update participation points throughout the school year through May 1.

Goals and Purpose of the Honor Society
The NJCL Latin Honor Society is a special designation given to Junior Classical League students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and citizenship in Latin. Our purpose is to spread knowledge of the classical world and share its utility, benefits and significance to the modern world.
Qualifications to Apply:
- Members are in good standing of the National Junior Classical League; good standing means being registered with both the state and national organizations
- Maintains an A average in current Latin course
- Has completed more than one year of Latin
- Has fulfilled six hours of service to the JCL

Our main goal is to inspire keen interest in mathematics, develop strong scholarship in the subject and promote the enjoyment of mathematics in high school students.

Goals and Purpose of the Honor Society
The National Art Honor Society program provides national recognition and opportunities for students who exhibit outstanding scholarship in the visual arts. In this time of uncertainty and potential isolation, connecting and acknowledging outstanding visual arts students is more imperative than ever. Participation in NAHS provides students, faculty, school and community with invaluable benefits, including peer recognition, leadership growth opportunities, college and career preparation and so much more.
Qualifications to Apply:
- Nominated by an NAEA member (Visual Art Teacher)
- 3.75 cumulative GPA
- Participation in NAHS meetings and activities
- Respects all school policies and procedures including following all academic and ethical expectations

Goals and Purpose of the Honor Society
The National Chinese Honor Society (NCHS) was established in 1993 to recognize those accomplished high school students who study Chinese as a world language. The National Chinese Honor Society is a scholastic organization that promotes and recognizes students who demonstrate citizenship, leadership, and community service. The purpose of the National Chinese Honor Society is to encourage its members to become life-long learners in order to gain a better understanding of the Chinese language and culture, as well as to play an active role as contributing global citizens in the twenty-first century.
Qualifications to Apply:
- Enrolled in the third-year Chinese program
- B and above average grades in Chinese class in the past two years
- Maintains a B grade while in the NCHS

Goals and Purpose of the Honor Society
The National English Honor Society (NEHS) is a high school honor society for students who excel in their English Language Arts classes and/or have a deep interest in all things literary. NEHS organizes various literary events such as writing contests and events celebrating specific genres or authors, book clubs, service projects related to literacy and other events.
Qualifications to Apply:
- Rising sophomore, junior or senior
- Maintains a minimum overall 3.5 weighted GPA and 4.0 English GPA
- Students who are accepted into NEHS are expected to attend the mandatory monthly meetings and complete a certain number of "participation" points each semester.

- Inspire student participation in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines and projects
- Provide recognition of student achievement in STEM

- Work in conjunction with the National STEM Honor Society™ (NSTEM™) to promote, encourage, and build a culture of STEM awareness and literacy
- Develop graduates who will pursue STEM majors and minors in higher education

Quill & Scroll exists for the purpose of encouraging and recognizing individual student achievement in journalism and scholastic publication. The Cathedral Catholic chapter of Quill & Scroll works to expand the reader/viewership of our student journalists as they grow in their craft.

Goals and Purpose of the Honor Society
Our mission is to promote scholarship and to recognize academic excellence in social studies among high school students. We provide opportunities for exploration in the social studies in our school environment and the community, and we encourage interest in, understanding of and appreciation for the social studies
Qualifications to Apply:
- Overall cumulative non-weighted GPA of 3.5
- Social science non-weighted GPA of 3.5
- Completed 4 semesters of social science courses and prepared to complete 6 semesters to be eligible (note: Summer school courses do not count toward this requirement)
- Students who wish to join at the beginning of their junior year must have successfully completed World Geography and World History/ (APWH), earning a B in both courses. Otherwise, candidates are not eligible to join until second semester junior year. They must have earned a B in U.S. History first semester and have a B at the time the application is submitted second semester. Candidate’s acceptance will be conditional until fourth quarter grades are verified.
- Full membership status will be granted at the start of the senior year.

Goals and Purpose of the Honor Society
SNHS is a prominent scientific organization that engenders a new group of young thinkers who will be the future of industry, research and scientific exploration for America.
Qualifications to Apply:
- Maintains a 3.0 weighted GPA across all classes
- Maintains a 3.5 weighted GPA across all science courses
- Enrolled in at least one honors/AP science class during or prior to the eleventh-grade year
- Enrolled in at least one second-year honors/AP science class during or prior to the twelfth-grade year
- Enrolled in at least one honors/AP level science class during the twelfth-grade year
- Maintains behavior that is acceptable to the guidelines as outlined by the school’s code of conduct in the student handbook
- Attends at least one lecture/talk hosted by the society per quarter
- Completes at least four service hours per year (hours may not roll over from year to year)
Note: If the standards fail to be met, the student shall be dropped from membership in the Science National Honor Society.

The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish 3 or higher sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). The mission of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is to recognize high school achievement in Spanish and to promote interest in Hispanic studies.
