The Globe Honors The Globe Honors is an exciting awards program that celebrates the best talent among San Diego’s high schoolers. Finalists perform on the Globe stage in front of a live audience, and winners receive scholarships and trips to either New York for the National High School Musical Theatre Awards competition or to Los Angeles for a special L.A. Experience. Caritas Awards Caritas in Latin means Love, in the sense of an unlimited loving kindness towards all others. The Caritas Award is given to CCHS students who have shown this love through others by completing over 100 hours of Christian Service within a 12 month period. The Award is given in the fall and in the spring. Students must complete the hours as well as an application to receive the award. In the fall, 41 students received the award, and this spring, there were 25 recipients. We had a total of 66 Caritas Award recipients for the 2012-2013 school year! Dons Equestrian Team takes the field at Manchester Stadium On Thursday, May 16th, the Dons Conquistador was joined on the field by the CCHS Equestrian Team, President Steve Laaperi, Athletic Director Dave Smola, and Coach Sean Doyle as the Team presented their OCIEL trophies to the school. Art Show showcases artists’ talent This was Cathedral Catholic’s annual art show, which took place on May 22. Characterized by an abundance of pieces, aspiring artists, proud parents and curious onlookers alike gathered in Guadalupe Center, observing the art created entirely by students throughout the school year. Cathedral Catholic Families Team Up to Honor Chelsea King Hundreds of young athletes recently participated in the "Home Run For Chelsea" tournament to raise money for the Chelsea's Light Foundation. The foundation was established in honor of slain Poway teen Chelsea King and aims to provide legislative and educational measures to protect children from sexual predators. Now in its third year, it is the largest one day baseball tournament in San Diego, with over 1,000 athletes taking part at Rancho Bernardo Community Park field, where Chelsea went missing in 2010. Among those participating were many of our own Cathedral Catholic Dons.
