2016-2017 Student Registration 

Cathedral Catholic High School’s Finance Council, our Advisory Board of Directors and the Diocese of San Diego have approved next year’s 2016-2017 school budget. A schedule of next year’s tuition rates and a Tuition Agreement form are now available on our website for your use.

Please be assured that we take our responsibility to be excellent stewards of the financial resources that you entrust to us as a school community very seriously.

Next year’s tuition will increase by one percent over this year’s tuition. We were able to limit next year’s increase to one percent by evaluating and reducing expenses in areas that do not directly affect educational programs that benefit our students. Savings were found by installing energy efficient LED lighting in all of the building interiors, continuing conservation of water use, and savings we should realize in electric costs through a planned Solar Photovoltaic (PV) electric project to be installed at school this summer. The overall annual tuition increase, per student, for the 2016–2017 school year will be $165.

Over the past several years, parents have requested incorporating the school’s many separate fees into the total annual tuition. Beginning with the upcoming 2016–2017 school year, each student’s technology fee, retreat expenses, school yearbook, graduation expenses and other miscellaneous fees will be included in the total amount of tuition, rather than as additional fees. For those on a monthly plan, the inclusion of these fees as part of the tuition will be an additional $50 per student, per month.

Fundraising and financial development goals planned by our Advancement Office are critical in helping us provide a varied and well-rounded Catholic education for our students. The annual tuition does not provide 100% of the costs involved in offering a quality Catholic education that seeks to serve the needs of each and every student. For the upcoming school year, there is a $1,700 gap between the annual tuition and the actual cost of educating each student. This gap needs to be closed through fundraising and private support from parents, alumni, alumni parents and friends of Cathedral Catholic High School.

As we have limited the past two annual tuition increases to one percent, we are again encouraging all families to make a tax-deductible, annual gift of at least $1,500 to help bridge the gap between tuition and actual costs.

Every family can make a difference; therefore, we expect parents to make an annual gift to The Fund for Cathedral that matches each family’s ability to give. Participation is vital as a high participation rate helps us secure grants from major donors and foundations that support Catholic schools. Unlike tuition, your gift to The Fund for Cathedral is 100% tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. If you participate in The Fund for Cathedral during the registration process, you will not be asked for another annual fund gift during the 2016-2017 school year. However, you will still have the opportunity to contribute to special projects, such as renovations or additions to the campus, or specific programs to enhance the students’ educational experience.

We will continue to work diligently to limit future increases over the next two to three years. We believe that this will be possible if all things remain stable in regards to enrollment and expenses that are not directly under our control (i.e., employee health insurance, retirement costs and utilities).

An increase in enrollment is also important in maintaining lower than average annual tuition increases. Parents are the greatest ambassadors of our school community and have a great influence on those who speak with them about Cathedral Catholic. We trust that you will share the good news with your relatives, friends and neighbors.

In order to register your student for the 2016-2017 school year, please submit the Tuition Agreement using the link provided below.

• Complete the Tuition Agreement form.

• Submit a $500 Tuition Deposit for each student being registered.

• Make a one-time gift or a monthly pledge to The Fund for Cathedral Catholic (Please feel free to contact the Advancement Office if you would like to discuss your gift.)

Families who select the monthly payment plan are required to participate in making automatic payments to FACTS Tuition Management. Once our Business Office has received your registration and deposit, you will receive an email from FACTS to register for your family’s monthly tuition payment plan.

Registrations, including each student’s Tuition Agreement and $500 tuition deposit, are due by April 8, 2016.
