The CCHS Faith in Action Service Day Trips focus on providing a variety of meaningful service interactions for all students. Students participate in structured experiences each year with their fellow students by grade level. Our Campus Ministry students help to lead service experiences. Each year students experience a different type of service – care for those who are homeless, assisting students in schools, helping at a food distribution center, and visiting with the elderly – in an effort to first, be of service to others, as well as to get out of our comfort zones and experience new ways of interaction with and care for others, to meet others where they are and to begin to understand them and the importance of building relationships, and finally to help students discern their call, their passion… a way to put their faith in action through service that will be something they embrace throughout their life.
As part of the CCHS call to service, our students serve our San Diego communities throughout the year. Freshmen serve lunch to those in need at Fr. Joe’s Village, Sophomores assist at Catholic elementary/middle schools, and Juniors visit with the elderly or help at Feeding San Diego, a food resource center. These service trips are required for all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.
At the beginning of the school year, each student must Sign Up for a service trip AND complete the necessary Permission Forms in order to participate.
To Sign Up for a Faith-In-Action service trip and complete Permission Forms, please complete these two steps:

Parental Involvement & Volunteers Needed!
In keeping with the Cathedral Catholic philosophy of working closely with parents, we highly encourage families to find service to enjoy together (see page with service opportunities). This modeling of servant leadership is a powerful educational tool and forms habits and ‘ways of being’ that enlighten young people and encourage the formation of a lifelong commitment to helping others.
Parents – we NEED you! Our Faith In Action Service Day Trips relies on parent drivers and chaperones. For more information on volunteering to chaperone a Faith-In-Action Group, click here: Parent Volunteers. If you have questions, please contact Nick Hurt, firstname.lastname@example.org.
