SOPHOMORES –

The Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Program offers selected sophomores from high schools in the U.S. and abroad the chance to participate in the State Leadership Seminar. “HOBY’s flagship program, the State Leadership Seminar, empowers high school sophomores to develop their leadership talents to become the leaders of their community. The seminar curriculum is based on the Social Change Model of Leadership and develops leadership from three perspectives: Personal Leadership, Group Leadership, and Leadership for Society.” The 2018 State Leadership Seminar will be held at Chapman University in Orange, CA on June 8-10, 2018.

CCHS is allowed to select and register one participant and one alternate. The fee to attend is $225 ($395 for the alternate). Sophomores may self-nominate by submitting an essay of 500-750 words on the topic, “Describe something you are passionate about and explain how you could lead others to care about your cause.” Please submit your essay to Mrs. Flynn at dflynn@cathedralcatholic.org no later than November 27th. The submissions will be reviewed by our School Counselors who will choose two sophomores to represent CCHS at the State Leadership Seminar.
