The Gatorade Company is proud to recognize Megan Faraimo ’18 as the 2017-18 Gatorade California Softball Player of the Year!
In its 33rd year, the Gatorade Player of the Year award honors top high school student-athletes in 12 varsity sports for their athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character. The selection process is administered by the Gatorade high school sports leadership team. In narrowing and evaluating the list of candidates for Gatorade State Player of the Year honors, Gatorade works with top sport-specific experts and a media advisory board of accomplished, veteran prep sports journalists. Thus, the Gatorade Player of the Year award has become the most prestigious award in high school sports.
As California’s honoree for 2017-18, Megan joins the ranks of past Gatorade State Players of the Year, including Cat Osterman and Alicia Hollowell. In addition, she is now eligible for the Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year award to be announced at a later date.
Megan recently graduated from Cathedral Catholic High School and will attend University of California at Los Angeles in the fall.
