Absence Policy Regarding Extracurricular Activities

If a student misses more than half of the class time for that day, they will not be allowed to participate in or attend extra/co-curricular events for that day.

Absence Procedures

• Only a parent or guardian may phone the Attendance Office in the event of an absence. The call must be placed anytime, day or night, within 48 hours of each day's absence. Mrs. Rogers, the attendance secretary, can receive calls at 858-523-4001.
• For extended absences, students should contact the Counseling Office for assignments from the teachers.
• Students returning without parental verification of absence will receive a Pending Admit Slip. If the absence is not cleared within 48 hours, it will be considered a truancy.
• On returning to school after an absence, students must obtain an Admit Slip prior to the beginning of the first period class. Tardiness to the first period class will not be excused if the student did not plan adequately to get the admit slip before the start of school.
  

Passport Procedures

Students may not leave the school campus without a passport from the Dean's Office. Students will be released ONLY to the parent/guardian or person listed on the Emergency Card. Failure to follow this policy may result in detention and suspension as this action is considered to be a truancy from school. For students who need to leave campus for appointments, parents should call the Attendance Office at the beginning of the school day on the same day that the student has the appointment. Every effort should be made to schedule appointments outside of school hours. CCHS reserves the right to verify any passport request with a parent/guardian. Students leaving school on a passport for a medical appointment must bring a signed note from their doctor in order to excuse the absence from school.

Weekday Detention

Please be reminded that you can reschedule a detention once without penalty.
Each subsequent reschedule doubles the consequence.
