Campus Ministry Liturgy

Course Objective:

Students will come to an understanding of the history of Christianity, development and meaning of the Sacraments, and the basic tenants of Christian spirituality as described in course 134 History of Christianity and course 133 Sacraments and Spirituality. In addition, students will learn liturgical theology. Students will learn the skills and theology in planning, organizing, and facilitating liturgical celebrations. Students will use these skills to organize school liturgies, and other celebrations. Students assume active ministerial roles to their peers and leadership roles on campus.

 Campus Ministry Liturgy Practicum Responsibilities:

  • All campus ministers are expected to attend Sunday Mass at your local parish.
  • All campus ministers are required to attend Lauds (Morning Prayer 7:45am in the Chapel) on  Fridays.
  • All liturgy campus ministers are required to (for a project grade) attend one week of Daily Mass (helping in different ministerial roles) and lead Lauds (Morning Prayer 7:45am in the Chapel).
  • All liturgy campus ministers are required to assist in the planning of assigned school-wide liturgies.

Sacraments

Course Objective:

This course offers students an opportunity to understand the purpose and meaning of the sacraments and prayer. It seeks to actively engage students in an encounter with these essential dimensions of Catholicism by showing them that they are an expression of their personal relationship with God.

This week we will be working on an in class project. All groups will present their project.
