American Government

Economics

Students in grade 12 master fundamental
economic concepts, applying the tools (graphs,
statistics, equations) from other subject areas to
the understanding of operation and institutions
of economic systems.  Studies in a historic
context include basic economics, concepts,
comparative economic systems, economic
decision-making, measurement and methods.
students to demonstrate independence and self-
direction as learners.

US History

Students in grade 11 study the major 20th
century turning points in American history.
Following a review of the nation’s democratic
beginnings, students build upon what they
learned in tenth grade World History to better
understand the emergence and impact of new
technology and global economics, including the
social and cultural effects.  Students trace the
role of the United States as a major world
power. Emphasis is placed on the expanding
role of the federal government, major social
issues, and a set of freedoms and political
principles basic to citizenship in a global society.
