Scholarship Opportunities

The following scholarships are available to CCHS students. Detailed information and applications for each scholarship are available in the Development Office and on our website beginning on March 1, 2010. All applications must be returned to the Development Office no later than March 22rd, 2010. All scholarships are awarded based on applications received by the deadline. Recipients are announced at the Spring Awards Ceremony. Scholarships will be applied toward the 2010-2011 academic year tuition. Scholarship recipients are notified by mail to attend the Spring Awards Ceremony.

Scholarships:

John Atilano Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student of Mexican Heritage. Must demonstrate outstanding school involvement.
Financial Need
GPA: 2.5 or above
Recipient chosen by Foreign Language Department. 2010-2011 projected award $500

Brother John Cislo Memorial Scholarship
Available to all minority students. Students must demonstrate outstanding school involvement.
Financial Need
GPA: 2.5 or above
Recipient chosen by Administration.
2010-2011 projected award $1,000

John Covell Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student of the current junior class.
Must demonstrate all around school involvement.
GPA: 2.5 or above
Recipient chosen by Administration.

CCHS Hospitality Industry Scholarship
Awarded to a graduating senior. Student must be pursuing a career in the hospitality or culinary arts program. Recipient chosen by Lauren Finley.
GPA: 3.0 or above

Joseph King Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student of the current junior class. Must demonstrate continuous academic achievement and responsible citizenship. Must have involvement in school sports, varsity or junior varsity level and community or school service programs. Financial Need considered but not
required.
GPA: 2.75 or above. Recipient chosen by King Family

CCHS Charles and Bessie Hannan Scholarship
Awarded to an incoming or current student.
Student must be a U.S. Citizen.
Financial Need
2010-2011 projected award of $1,500 each

George M. Rice/Cathedral Girls' Alumnae Scholarship
Awarded to a student who is a descendent of a Cathedral Girls' Alumnae. Student must have demonstrated participation in community service or extracurricular activities. Recipient MUST be available to attend the Cathedral Girls' Reunion in August 2010.
GPA: 2.5 or above

Christine M. Ross Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student of the current junior class. Student must have demonstrated participation in one year of athletics and one year of extracurricular activities. Student should exemplify the personal qualities of character that demonstrate Christian compassion and spontaneity for life.
GPA: 2.5 or above

CCHS Katherine Rubano Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student of the current junior class. Student must be pursuing a career in nursing or medical field.
Financial Need
GPA: 2.5 or above

Robert "E" Bull Trometter Memorial Scholarship
Student must have at least one-year participation on Freshmen, Junior Varsity or Varsity football team. Must demonstrate responsible citizenship.
GPA: 2.5 or above
Recipient chosen by Administration after nomination by a head football coach.

Richard E. Kelly Scholarship
Awarded to an incoming or current student. Student must participate in community service and demonstrate Christian qualities and character.
Financial Need
GPA: 2.5 or above
Recipient chosen by Dr. Richard Kelly and Committee.

CCHS M&T Trust Scholarship
Recipient must be a junior or senior in need of financial aid and must have participated in a varsity sport.
GPA: 3.0 or above

Cathedral Cares Choice Scholarship
Awarded to a returning student. Student must commit to the positive choice of living alcohol free. Student must demonstrate responsible citizenship.
GPA: 2.5 or above
Recipient chosen by Cathedral Cares Committee.
2010-2011 projected award $1,000

CCHS George H. Mayr Foundation Scholarship
Applicant must be a resident of the State of California.
Financial need
Recipient chosen by the Administration and executives of the foundation.
2010-2011 projected award to be three scholarships up to $5,000 each

Tom Steves Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a member of the current Junior Class who has had two years of language. Student should exemplify the personal qualities that demonstrate Christian compassion and spontaneity for life.
GPA: 2.5 or above
Recipient chosen by the Foreign Language Department.

Richard E. Gerding /Luis J. Bitterlin Grandfathers Scholarship
Courage - Character- Commitment
Chosen from the current junior class, this award is given in memory of two USDHS grandfathers who faithfully and proudly supported six grandchildren who are former DONS. The recipient is chosen on the basis of demonstrating distinctive qualities of leadership, courage, character and commitment to excellence. Student must participate on a varsity sports team and be involved in an extracurricular activity.
GPA: 3.2 or above
Recipient chosen by Robin and Chris Bitterlin.
2010-2011 projected award $3,000

CCHS Uniform Recycle Program Scholarship
Awarded to a current freshman, sophomore or junior student. Students must demonstrate continuous academic achievement and involvement in extracurricular activities and community service.
GPA: 3.0 or above
Recipient will be chosen by the CCHS Uniform Recycle Program Representatives.
2010-2011 projected award: 3 awards up to $2,000 each
