JUNE
June 11th - Counseling Office Closed for 2009-2010 School Year
The Counseling Office will be closed for the summer break starting on this date. The counselors will return to the office starting on Monday, August 16, 2010. No phone calls or e-mails will be returned during this time.
June 4th - June 2011 SAT Test Date
SAT and SAT Subject Tests are available on this date. This is the last sitting of the SAT for the 2010-2011 school year.

The ACT is available on this date. This is the last sitting of the ACT for the 2010-2011 school year.
AUGUST
August 6th - September 2010 ACT Registration Deadline
Register for the September ACT by this date at http://www.actstudent.org/regist/. Seniors need to take the ACT no later than December (earlier for impacted programs; November for SDSU) for Cal State schools and take the ACT plus Writing by December for UC schools.

September 10th - First Semester Add-Drop Deadline
The official add-drop period for parent/student-initiated level changes and other misplacements is during the first three weeks of the first semester.

OCTOBER
October 1st - Online Application Period Opens for Cal State Schools
The online application period for Cal State schools opens October 1 for the fall term, 2011. Senior students interested in applying to a Cal State school must apply for admission during the initial filing period of October 1st through November 30th.

October 7th (7:00 PM-9:00 PM) - Senior Parent College information Meeting
A panel of colleges and universities (Cal State, UC, private, Catholic, and community college) will be present to go over the admission process and answer questions. It will be held in the Guadalupe Center Theatre.

October 13th (8:10 AM-11:00 AM) - All-School Testing for Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors
All freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will have testing on this day. Testing will begin promptly at 8:10 a.m., and students will be dismissed at approximately 11:00 a.m. Seniors do not have school on this day.
October 19th (11:30 AM-12:15 PM) - College Visit--Seattle University
Seattle University is a private, comprehensive institution affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church and operated by the Jesuit Fathers.
October 20th (1:30 PM-2:15 PM) - College Visit--Saint Mary's College of California
Saint Mary's College of California, located in Moraga, California, is a private, independent, liberal arts college affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church.
October 21st (7:00 PM-9:00 PM) - CCHS College Fair
The CCHS College Fair will be held in the Claver Center Gymnasium. Representatives from colleges and universities throughout the United States and internationally will be ready to help you learn about their admission requirements and campus life.
October 22nd (9:30 AM-10:15 AM) - College Visit--University of Washington Bothell
University of Washington Bothell combines the benefits of a small campus with the resources and prestige of a world-renowned university. Their curriculum emphasizes close student-faculty interactions, collaboration among students, and hands-on learning. Bothell is located 20 miles from Seattle.

October 26th (1:30 PM-2:15 PM) - College Visit--Washington University in Saint Louis
Washington University is a private, independent institution offering undergraduate and graduate programs in arts and sciences, business, architecture, engineering, art, and professional programs in law, medicine, and social work.
October 29th (8:15 AM-9:30 AM) - "Coffee with Counselors"
Senior parents are invited to a morning chat with the CCHS counselors. Enjoy coffee and breakfast treats and have the opportunity to talk with your child's counselor in an informal setting. Held in the Guadalupe Center Theatre Foyer.
NOVEMBER
November 1st - Priority Application Period Begins for UC Schools
The priority application period for UC schools is November 1-30. Students must apply during this period to be considered for an impacted program (actually for any program or school since most campuses fill up with priority applicants).

December 6th - Senior College Recommendation Letter Requests Due to Counselors
College recommendation letter requests are due to your counselor no later than the end of school today. Please bring them in with a completed student resume, any necessary forms, and stamped, addressed envelopes.

JANUARY
January 6th (6:00 PM-8:00 PM) - Senior Parent College Financial Aid Night
The Counseling Office will be holding this event in the Assisi Lecture Hall. A financial aid officer from a local university will be reviewing the FAFSA and the college financial aid process in general. No R.S.V.P. is necessary.
January 7th - February 2011 ACT Registration Deadline

January 10th - Cal Grant/GPA Verification Forms Available Now in Counseling
Seniors...Cal Grant/GPA Verification Forms are available in the Counseling Office now. Don't pre-judge your situation; money may be available for you! And Cal Grant money is "free" money! If you are applying to a school in California and plan to file the FAFSA, please come to get your form, complete it, and return it to Counseling, as we enter the information electronically for you. Remember, many schools in California require students to file a FAFSA and the Cal Grant form even if you aren't requesting financial aid. The deadline to turn this form in to Counseling is Friday, February 25, 2011.
January 14th - Second Semester Add-Drop Deadline
Student-initiated changes may occur the first week of the second semester for semester classes and electives, space permitted.
January 19th - Senior College Mid-Year Forms Due to Counseling
"Mid-Year Madness" forms, which were distributed in senior English classes, are due to the Counseling Office by today. If you have applied to schools that require mid-year reports, your counselor needs to know, so please fill out the form, including your name and the complete name of the school and city of the campus if appropriate, and return it to your counselor by today! If your counselor does not receive the form, a mid-year report will not be sent. Please note that mid-year reports are only required for most private schools, and CSUs and UCs do not require mid-year reports.
January 22nd - January 2011 SAT Test Date

FEBRUARY
February 1st - Junior Student College Presentations
The Counseling Office is scheduled to meet with junior students starting today, February 1, 2011, through Tuesday, February 8, 2011 (during their U.S. History classes). Counselors will be discussing the college process with the students as well as introducing them to the COIN computer program, which will aid students with their college search. After these group meetings are finished, counselors will start calling out each of their junior students individually to discuss a personalized college admission plan for senior year.
February 3rd (7:00 PM-9:00 PM) - Junior/Sophomore Parent College Information Meeting
The Counseling Office will be holding this event in the Guadalupe Center Theatre. Counselors will give a presentation on the first steps in the college application process. A "CCHS College Admissions Guide" will be given to all junior parents, and sophomore parents are invited so that they can hear the information about what is coming up for their students in their junior and senior years for college admissions.

February 25th - Cal Grant/GPA Verification Forms Deadline
Today is the deadline for seniors to turn in their Cal Grant/GPA Verification Forms to Counseling. Students who plan to attend a California college or university should turn in a form, whether or not they are requesting financial aid. The Counseling Office submits your information electronically, so we need your forms by today to meet the official California deadline.
