Practicum Courses
Campus Ministry Practicum Liturgies (Junior Course)The CMP-L course is offered only to junior students. The students of this course are challenged to organize and implement the liturgical prayer life of the CCHS Community. This will include the celebrations of the Eucharist (Mass) and Liturgy of the Hours - Morning Prayer (Lauds) & Evening prayer. Although you do not need to be Catholic to apply, you are required to have a general understanding of the worship rituals of the Roman Catholic Church. You will learn the theology, spirituality, and general norms of these rituals while completing requirements for your junior religion course. Students in the CMP-L class may also assist the CMP-R class in the implementation of the Frosh Retreat and Frosh Moshes. Campus Ministry Practicum Music - Instrumentalists (Junior and Senior Course)The CMP-M Instrumentalist course is offered to both juniors and seniors. This class is a liturgical band which will minister at various school liturgies (Masses and Liturgy of the Hours) and retreats. Students are required to audition for this course. Instrumentalists will be admitted based on need and talent. Instrumentalists will need to be able to play an instrument prior to enrollment as this course does not teach proficiency. In addition students will learn the theology, spirituality, and general norms of these rituals while completing requirements for either your junior or senior religion courses. Campus Ministry Practicum Music - Schola (Junior and Senior Course)The CMP-M Schola course is offered to both juniors and seniors. This class is a liturgical choir which will minister at various school liturgies (Masses and Liturgy of the Hours) and retreats. Students are required to audition for this course. Singers will be admitted based on need and talent. Singers will be expected to cantor, sing solos. In addition students will learn the theology, spirituality, and general norms of these rituals while completing requirements for either your junior or senior religion courses. Campus Ministry Practicum Retreats (Senior Course)The CMP-R course is offered only to seniors. Prior enrollment in either CMP-M or CMP-L is not required, and does not guarantee placement in CMP-R. This class is responsible for all student facilitated retreats. You will learn the theology and spirituality of retreats while completing requirements for your senior religion course. Campus Ministry Practicum Service (Senior Course)The CMP-S course is offered only to seniors. Prior enrollment in either CMP-M or CMP-L is not required, and does not guarantee placement in CMP-S. This class is responsible for campus wide Advent/Lenten drives. You will be expected to help with coordinating the LIGHT group themes and activities. You will learn the theology and spirituality of service while completing requirements for your senior religion course. |
