On Tuesdays, the St. Patrick Catholic Church offers a soup kitchen which is free to the community. Roughly 100-200 people are served during each event. Kitchen helpers are often needed as well as “greeters.” St. Patrick Catholic Church is located in Carlsbad.

Volunteer at Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas and earn indirect service hours. Please only sign up for ONE Thursday per month in order to allow other students the same opportunity. Volunteers will be helping with chores around the shelter including: laundry, dishes, helping at the food bank, and anything else that may need to be done (please note that you may chose to wear clothes you do not care about getting dirty). Volunteers will also assist shelter staff in socializing the animals currently residing at the shelter. This opportunity is every Thursday, unless there is no school, from 4pm-5pm. SAVE THE DATE for the Surfrider Foundation San Diego County Chapter’s 23rd Annual Paddle for Clean Water on Sunday, September 21st from 9am-12pm in Ocean Beach. The event will feature hundreds of surfers and ocean enthusiasts paddling around the Ocean Beach Pier in an effort to raise awareness about the need for clean water and healthy coastlines.

St. Therese of Carmel and Notre Dame Academy are searching for volunteers to help out with Oktoberfest, which is being held at NDA’s campus on Sunday, September 28th. The family festival will have lots of rides, carnival games, food and fun. They are looking for volunteers to help run the games and staff food booths. A fundraising and awareness event known as Sleepless San Diego. Participants will visit different educational booths along with visiting activity booths that help the homeless in some practical way like putting together hygeine kits or decorating a pillow case that will be used by a homeless child.
