Are there physicals or other needed?
Yes. The athletic office has a mailing coming home. Physicals need to be marked after July 1 st. We offer physicals on campus on July 21 st with 9 th and 10 th graders from 8:00am – 10:00am. 11 th and 12 th graders will go from 10:00am – 12:00pm.
What if I can’t make it to the whole summer class?
Incoming freshman should not worry if they already have a family vacation planned. Obviously the more the player is at the camp the further along they will be when August comes around. But the same things will be covered again the first few weeks of August camp. JV and Varsity players need to check with their perspective coaches on any missed time.
What if my freshman player can’t make it to the first days of August?
The sooner the player gets to camp the better for the player. Missing a few days will not preclude them from playing on the football team.
When will practices be in August?
Freshman players will go Monday thru Friday until games begin. Practice is tentatively scheduled from 9:00am – 1:00pm. There will be changes to this schedule as we approach the beginning of school. JV and Varsity practices will vary and a full schedule will be out in a few weeks.
What will practice be during school?
Freshman practices will run from 2:30 – 4:30 everyday. JV will practice from 2:30 – 4:45. Varsity practice will run until 5:15. Varsity also has a Saturday commitment during the season from 8:00 – 11:30.
Are practices mandatory?
Yes. If you must miss in the summer please let the appropriate head coach know. There emails can be found in the contact area of the football page. If a player misses practice for any reason during the regular season it can effect their playing time in that weeks game.
Is it true that there will be two freshman teams?
Yes. The coaches will split the teams the first few weeks of practice. There will be a Gold Team schedule and a Red Team schedule. All players will be at all games but only Gold Team members will play at the Gold games and Red Team members at the Red games.
Are there any specifics as the type of cleats needed?
No. The turf we have plays like grass so regular football cleats are needed. The style and type are player preference. Westwood Sports of Rancho Bernardo gives us a great deal on Adidas cleats so you may want to check them out. All players should have black cleats.
